Most fly fishing Key West Baits are categorized into two categories. First is the imitators, these are baits that look like creatures that are found in nature. Second are attractors, these are baits that do not imitate anything yet are able to attract species because of the colors.

Dry flies refer to the artificial insects that are thrown into the water. This should look like the thing is floating on water. This action or technique will hopefully attract the fish and will make it come on top of the water to grab the bait. When fishes are caught, it will try to free itself from the bait until it gets tired enough to be placed in the net.

Nymphs are artificial baits made to look like aquatic insects that live in the bottom of the rivers, lakes and seas. Most people who enjoy this activity are equipped with these in their tool box. Different fishes are attracted to different insects. However, there are some baits which could attract more than one specie of fish.

A nymph is the larvae stage between the egg stage and the insect stage. Most of the species that belong to the insect category primarily begin as larvaes. These can be characterized by the worm like appearance.

Steelhead baits are used to catch a certain type of meat. This bait is characterized by the usage of bright and flashy materials. This will get the attention of the specie under the cold waters. It is best to place them on the bottom of the sea bed.

Sometimes, there are baits that are shaped like insects that are usually found in land. These could be ants, grass hoppers and beetles. These baits are called Terrestrial baits and are largely used to catch medium sized fishes.

The most trusted bestfriend of fishermen in fly fishing key west is the collection of colorful baits. These are widely used for decades in order to catch it faster than a hiccup. However, there are some species that prefer raw meat as bait.
